Whether you're conducting business abroad, immigrating to a new country, or engaging in international transactions, ensuring the legal validity and recognition of your documents is essential. Our notary services are here to assist you in navigating the complexities of international document authentication, known as Apostille.

Why Notarize for International Use?

Notarizing documents for international use adds an extra layer of authentication and credibility, ensuring that your paperwork will be recognized and accepted in foreign jurisdictions. Many countries require notarized documents as part of their legal processes, making it imperative to have your documents properly notarized. At times Apostille may be required, learn more here.

Common Documents

  • Power of Attorney: Granting someone the authority to act on your behalf in legal matters.

  • Contracts and Agreements: Formalizing agreements with international partners or clients.

  • Affidavits and Declarations: Providing sworn statements or declarations for legal purposes.

  • Certified Copies: Authenticating copies of original documents, such as birth certificates, passports, and academic transcripts.

The Notarization Process

  1. Document Preparation: Ensure your document is complete and accurate before seeking notarization.

  2. Notary Appointment: Schedule an appointment with a notary public who is authorized to perform international notarizations.

  3. Verification of Identity: Present valid identification to the notary to confirm your identity.

  4. Witnessing Signing: Sign the document in the presence of the notary, who will then witness your signature.

  5. Apostille: Depending on the requirements of the destination country, additional authentication, such as apostille or consular legalization, may be necessary. Learn more about Apostille here.

Please note that online or remote notarization is not yet explicitly regulated under Ontario law. Therefore, DG Notary does not offer online notarial services, including the digital notarization of documents. Any mention of terms such as “notary,” “online notary,” or “notarize online” on our website is used solely in an informal, descriptive context. These references apply only to our lawful remote commissioning and virtual witnessing services, which are separate from formal notarial acts.

DG Notary is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, representation, or legal opinions. While we assist with online commissioning and witnessing, we do not provide guidance regarding the legal validity, enforceability, or acceptance of documents.

If you need legal advice about executing or using a document, we recommend consulting a licensed lawyer or qualified legal professional.
